Additive Manufacturing Technician
The AM Technician supports all aspects of additive manufacturing (AM) activities using advanced additive and subtractive manufacturing machines (LPBF, FDM, EDM, and CNC). Duties include process documentation, machine setup, overseeing print quality, metal handling (sieving, loading, de-powdering, measuring), material lifecycle management, powder supplier coordination, and routine machine maintenance. The role also involves training new manufacturing staff. Key functions include CNC/manual support structure removal, secondary finishing operations (polishing, reaming, straightening), machine prep and material changeovers, 3D printer operation and daily maintenance, parts removal, shop cleanup, and managing schedules across multiple printers and builds.
- 1+ years working as an AM technician with LPBF, FDM, or EDM machines (e.g., EOS M290, Markforged)
- AS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Optical Technology or related field (preferred)
- Excellent mechanical skills including use of power and hand tools
- Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gages, precision scales)
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit, or be in physically demanding positions for long periods
- Strong communication skills and ability to read and provide feedback on technical documents
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment (preferred)
- Experience with Advanced Manufacturing and Reverse Engineering (plus)
- Knowledge of CNC programming (plus)
